Been a While

Wow! It’s been a while since i last posted. But, I only have two weeks of classes left and then lots of finals. So, I don’t think i’ll be able to post around here as much. I can tell you that I have been eating greek yogurt messes for breakfast every day, and my lunch varies between a sandwich and eating out ahah. Yesterday, I had greek yogurt and then pizza all day and I snacked on a banana and some dots. Today I had greek yogurt for breakfast and I am planning on eating my last two slices of pizza for lunch, and then burgers and pregaming for dinner for a lax game. No pictures today but hopefully once school is over I can dedicate more time to this!

noodles

April 19, 2011 1 comment

This morning I woke up and made myself a big bowl of oatmeal! I’m using the same picture as yesterday because it was essentially the same! Except I ate like twice the amount, since I had to go to the library from 8-noon and I wanted something super filling.

It tasted better than it looks!

Then I had lunch with a friend at noon and I got sushi, again same picture because it was essentially the same. Yes, clearly I am that bland.

I also had a granola bar on the side. Then I had to prepare for a class presentation, followed by class. The presentation went well we went a little over time but it was not a big deal. For some reason I got a really strong craving for noodles, so after class my friend and I went to this Asian place called Ajumma. It was previously called CC Carryout, I got the noodles and they were NOT good. I rarely dislike noodles, but these were oily, greasy and they were sweet, which was unexpected for me. Also, they are called beef fried noodles but there was barely any beef in it! And there were no veggies just some slithers of onion. Overall, I was very disappointed.

Then I had some ice cream in celebration of something exciting for a friend of mine! I was feeling really full and gross, so I decided to attempt going to the gym. I did 30 minutes of interval training on the elliptical, and came home and drank like 2 liters of water! I definitely don’t drink a lot of water throughout the day, and then at night I feel really thirsty. As a post workout treat I had three dates with peanut butter and nutella on top! Delicious.

Pasta

I woke up this morning and ate a nice big bowl of oatmeal with a little bit of peanut butter and some boysenberry jam. It was nice and warm, and just what I needed since it’s so chilly outside. I actually purchased this boysenberry jam on accident at Trader Joe’s. Before this I didn’t even know what boysenberry was haha It actually tastes good, not my favorite, but I would purchase it again.

I then went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the elliptical. Came home and showered and then made myself some pasta with chicken, vegetables, cherry tomatoes, and a lemon sauce over it. It was really good but I think I could have put more lemon in it. Sorry I forgot to take pictures of the pasta, I was so hungry I devoured it. Then I had a Skinny Cow Peanut Butter Ice Cream sandwich. At 150 calories this is the perfect ice cream treat that you can eat without feeling too guilty.

It tasted better than it looks!

Tuna

I thought I would update again this time with pics! So, for dinner I had a piece of toast (100) and tuna with veggies (200). This was a really filling meal and the veggies added on to the tuna gave it that extra flavor. I don’t really like mayo so I never buy it or use it myself in any of my meals.

Then I had a major sweet tooth, that’s a lie…I always have a sweet tooth. So I rummaged in my fridge and I found the yoplait caramel parfaits, I had two left, and I realized one expired yesterday and the other expires today. I ate both, I had too…

I also just realized that my blog is titled DENIMandDESSERT and I have not featured any of the denim I wear, and I have not baked anything. I do love dessert though, it’s just really not practical for me to bake an entire cake in college and it’s too tempting because then all I want to do is devour it. If anyone has recipes utilizing dates though I would love to see it! I have a lot of dates that I took from home and aside from eating one every morning and one before going to bed, I still have a lot and it would be nice to incorporate them into meals or something.

Also, I thought I would mention I am currently wearing a pair of Seven for All Mankind Roxanne Skinny Slimmer Jeans. I pretty much live in these jeans, they’re currently my favorite and most comfortable pair. I can also wear them with sneakers, flats, sandals, boots, wedges, and heels and they’re not too thick and not too thin so I feel fine wearing them all year. Also the wash is super dark, which I like because it is the most flattering. The only thing I wish is that the rise was a little higher. When you have a big butt and a little bit of a belly, low rise jeans don’t really look all that great because I hate muffin tops and I hate worrying that every time I sit down I am mooning the world.

So, do you have any recipes that utilize dates? And what is currently your favorite pair of jeans?

Neglecting the blog

Wowowowow I have completely neglected this blog, but, I have a very good reason. I have 3 weeks of college left! And then I have finals, but all that just means that I have been extremely busy with senior activities, midterms, papers, more papers, weekly assignments etcetc so as a result I have not been taking pictures of my food or really paying attention to what I am eating. On top of all that this weekend is spring fair at our school, which means carnival food! Yesterday I had funnel cake and a lamb gyro! It was really tasty but I think all that combined with other beverages and munching gave me the worst stomachache ever.

I don’t have any pictures for today 😦 but I have also been pretty boring. I eat greek yogurt (300 with toppings) for breakfast every day, and today for lunch I had a turkey and laughing cow cheese sandwich on a roll (350) with a side of grapes (60) and a pear (80). Then I went and got some sweet potato fries (350) and some cheese on crackers (140). I might have a late night snack but that’s debatable since I need to write a 10 page paper 😦 Luckily it is pouring rain outside so I have very little incentive to go outside and get some spring fair food again.

Greek Yogurt

Does this post a day after I actually write it? Hm weird. Anyways yesterday, Monday, I can’t even really remember sadly. But, I know I started my day off with Greek Yogurt, Fage brand, with some peanut butter and a few chocolate chips. I could seriously eat this for every.single.meal IT IS that good.

Today, I started off with a fage greek yogurt, chocolate chips and peanut butter (400 calories)

That lasted me until about 11am, and I had a break so I decided to get lunch. I went to Einsteins Bagels and had a plain bagel with reduced fat strawberry cream cheese (350). And I had a cup of broccoli cheddar soup (300). I used to get the bagel w/cream cheese every day freshmen year, and I was just obsessed with it. Today it tasted meh, I think the cream cheese has lost a lot of flavor and the bagels seem a lot smaller. I also bought a bag of candy by the pound, gummy worms/heath bar/malt balls, so not healthy but I am just craving chocolate lately (400). For dinner I will probably have a turkey and cheese sandwich (350) and some granola with soy milk (200)

Total: 2000

That means I am over by about 800, which means I will be hitting the gym! I will probably run 2 miles and do some arm exercises 😦 I hate going to the gym.

I also just had to share, yesterday as part of one of my meals I had the Lobster Ravioli, Healthy Choice Steamer, and I have to say it was really yummy! It was more filling than I thought it would and there were a lot of ravioli pieces.

Binge Eating

Wow I truly binge ate today. I have no clue what is wrong with me, it’s like I have a worm in my stomach or something

I ended up eating

Cheese and turkey sandwich (350)

Banana (120)

Potstickers (360)

Banana Flavored Yogurt (80)

Sweet Potato Fries (200)

Twizzlers (110)

Coffee Ice Cream (210)

Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Cookies (500)

2 Granola Bars (280)

Ritz Crackerfuls (140)

Greek Yogurt (100)

2 Dates (140)

Granola w/ soy milk (200)

Eek I won’t even calculate my total. Today was definitely a struggle day for me, I felt just very emotional and I feel like this is so hard and as much as I want to change and fix myself, it’s a lot harder than I thought it would be. I know I am probably going to gain 2-3lbs as a result of this weekend but I think I am going to have to suck it up, and just think of tomorrow as a new day and try and go back on track.

Waking Up Early

I wake up every day around 7am-7:30am even though my classes are not until 1:30pm MW and Friday I don’t even have class. Whenever I have friends that wake up at 8 or 9, they are always like I woke up so early today, of course I need to nap. Ugh they can get so annoying. I prefer waking up early, but at a reasonable early. 7-9am are reasonable times to wake up, depending on what time you go to bed. I used to sleep at 3am-4am so of course I wouldn’t wake up until 10am-noon. Essentially wasting an entire day, now I wake up and just feel so much more productive because there are less distractions early in the morning. I need to start taking more pictures, but I always just make my food and eat it, never thinking to document it. I ate a banana with peanut butter on it, then I went to the gym with a friend and did the elliptical for 30minutes and left. I probably should have done more, but I just did not feel like being in the gym. Oh well, sometimes you just have those days. Then I came home and made myself a Healthy Choice Pot Sticker meal (360 calories) it was okay, I thought the sauce was too sweet for me and I wish the meal had more pot stickers instead of rice. Then for some reason I was CRAVING cheese. So, I made myself a cheese sandwich, one slice of mozzarella cheese on a roll (270 calories), and microwaved it for about 40-50 seconds. It HIT ALL the right spots. There’s something about melted cheese and warm bread that is just perfection. I have no clue what I’ll have for dinner, but now it’s time to get some work done! Papers, papers, exams, exams, papers ugh when will it end?!

What’s your favorite kind of cheese? Mine is meunster, brie, or mozzarella!

Birthday Dinners

Eek so sorry for not blogging yesterday, and it was probably my yummiest food day. I had greek yogurt with banana for breakfast, followed by chocolate cake for a friends birthday, and a burger with avocado and fries on the side. Then as a late night food I had some Indian food, samosas included, for going to my friends acapella show to support her. I also snacked on pineapples, candy, and cheese all day. That all just means I ate A LOT yesterday and I feel it today. My friend was celebrating her birthday yesterday, April 9, even though her birthday was in late March. What is your opinion on celebrating your birthday weeks after your actual birthday? For me I think it’s silly, I know everyone wants to celebrate their birthdays but WEEKS after your birthday serves way less meaning and purpose and just seems like a call for attention or presents. Maybe that’s just me because initially I am not big on celebrating birthdays anyways.

Twizzlers

One of my indulgences are anything chewy, but not sour (think twizzlers, swedish fish, dots) and chocolate. As an afternoon snack I ate several twizzlers (the peel kind) and they were so good. Then I finished off the risotto, and for dinner I am going to have the Healthy Choice Steamers, I think they are new. It’s the Rosemary Chicken and Sweet Potatoes, it looks so small so I will probably also have a piece of fruit or something.

Edit. The Healthy Choice meal was okay, it was what i expected out of a frozen meal. The sweet potatoes were good although maybe I am bias since I love sweet potatoes. Also there were a lot of sweet potatoes in this meal, although not as much chicken, and the chicken was good. I didn’t think there was a lot of seasoning or sauce though, so, it did taste a little bland. I also ate a mango, which was so juicy!
