Waking Up Early

I wake up every day around 7am-7:30am even though my classes are not until 1:30pm MW and Friday I don’t even have class. Whenever I have friends that wake up at 8 or 9, they are always like I woke up so early today, of course I need to nap. Ugh they can get so annoying. I prefer waking up early, but at a reasonable early. 7-9am are reasonable times to wake up, depending on what time you go to bed. I used to sleep at 3am-4am so of course I wouldn’t wake up until 10am-noon. Essentially wasting an entire day, now I wake up and just feel so much more productive because there are less distractions early in the morning. I need to start taking more pictures, but I always just make my food and eat it, never thinking to document it. I ate a banana with peanut butter on it, then I went to the gym with a friend and did the elliptical for 30minutes and left. I probably should have done more, but I just did not feel like being in the gym. Oh well, sometimes you just have those days. Then I came home and made myself a Healthy Choice Pot Sticker meal (360 calories) it was okay, I thought the sauce was too sweet for me and I wish the meal had more pot stickers instead of rice. Then for some reason I was CRAVING cheese. So, I made myself a cheese sandwich, one slice of mozzarella cheese on a roll (270 calories), and microwaved it for about 40-50 seconds. It HIT ALL the right spots. There’s something about melted cheese and warm bread that is just perfection. I have no clue what I’ll have for dinner, but now it’s time to get some work done! Papers, papers, exams, exams, papers ugh when will it end?!

Birthday Dinners

Eek so sorry for not blogging yesterday, and it was probably my yummiest food day. I had greek yogurt with banana for breakfast, followed by chocolate cake for a friends birthday, and a burger with avocado and fries on the side. Then as a late night food I had some Indian food, samosas included, for going to my friends acapella show to support her. I also snacked on pineapples, candy, and cheese all day. That all just means I ate A LOT yesterday and I feel it today. My friend was celebrating her birthday yesterday, April 9, even though her birthday was in late March. What is your opinion on celebrating your birthday weeks after your actual birthday? For me I think it’s silly, I know everyone wants to celebrate their birthdays but WEEKS after your birthday serves way less meaning and purpose and just seems like a call for attention or presents. Maybe that’s just me because initially I am not big on celebrating birthdays anyways.

One of my indulgences are anything chewy, but not sour (think twizzlers, swedish fish, dots) and chocolate. As an afternoon snack I ate several twizzlers (the peel kind) and they were so good. Then I finished off the risotto, and for dinner I am going to have the Healthy Choice Steamers, I think they are new. It’s the Rosemary Chicken and Sweet Potatoes, it looks so small so I will probably also have a piece of fruit or something.


Edit. The Healthy Choice meal was okay, it was what i expected out of a frozen meal. The sweet potatoes were good although maybe I am bias since I love sweet potatoes. Also there were a lot of sweet potatoes in this meal, although not as much chicken, and the chicken was good. I didn’t think there was a lot of seasoning or sauce though, so, it did taste a little bland. I also ate a mango, which was so juicy!

Since I do not have class today I woke up pretty late  and did not get out of bed until 10:45am. I ate a banana (100 calories) and I was going to go workout but my entire body just felt exhausted. So I did some light reading, and decided to make an inventory of all the food I have. That way I could plan out some of my meals for the next couple of days, and utilize the things I have in my kitchen. I decided to make the Lundberg Butternut Squash Risotto, and although the package said it would only take 20minutes it took more like 30-40minutes. The recipe is really simple, just add 1/2 tbsp of olive oil, 1/2 a cup of milk (i used soy milk) and I believe 2 cups of water. You don’t have to stand there and constantly stir which was nice, because I did other work while it was simmering. Overall, it was an okay risotto I probably would not buy it again unless it was on sale. I think it would have been better if I added some vegetables or protein. It is a very thick and heavy risotto though. I think I’ll suck it up and get ready to go to the gym, otherwise I’ll regret it later.


Each serving has 140 calories, and there are 4 servings in the box. I ate about half (280 calories) and I'm going to eat the other half later.

Sorry I did not blog yesterday and seemed to have just fallen off the wagon. Yesterday was a good food day, I can’t remember what I ate, I do remember eating cottage cheese with apple slices. What’s your opinion on cottage cheese? Do you like it? Do you dislike it? I know a lot of people don’t like it because of the texture, but I love it.

Today I walked four miles! My friend and I walked all the way to this restaurant, Miss Shirley’s, and I wish I had taken pictures. I had a smoked turkey, brie, apple slices, honey mustard on ciabatta bread sandwich with a small cup of Maryland Crab soup. We also shared sweet potato fries. Honestly the sandwich was mediocre, the bread tasted old and I didn’t think there was a lot of turkey in the sandwich. Maybe one slice of turkey and two VERY thin pieces of apple, and there was one thin slice of brie. For $14 i thought there would be more to the sandwich like more turkey slices, or a bigger chunk of brie. But, there wasn’t and I think in the end that is why I was so dissatisfied. The best part of the meal were the sweet potato fries and the sauces that came with it. They matched perfectly with the sweet taste and created a perfect balance between sweet and savory. We then walked to Red Mango and got frozen yogurt. I got the dark chocolate with chocolate chips, and I have to say hands on my favorite frozen yogurt place is Yogurtland back home in California. This one didn’t taste like dark chocolate and it tasted more like soft serve ice cream than frozen yogurt. Overall, a disappointment with my meal today.

So i ended class, ate 3 dates (250 calories) and ran 1.5 miles. Came back, showered, and made myself some dinnnna. I have a group project meeting at 6:30 so I had to eat an early dinner. I made myself a veggie burger, Nature’s Promise Char-Grilled Soy Burger. I am by no means vegetarian, but sometimes I just don’t eat meat. This burger was super good, it has a good amount of flavor and I didn’t really feel like I was eating a veggie burger. I put it on some toast, I don’t have any buns, and put a little bit of salsa on it (burger total 300 calories). It was really filling and now I just want to lay down ahah sadly I can’t as I have so much work to do 😦

I gained 1.5lbs just because of yesterdays terrible eating habits, granted a good chunk of it is probably water weight but 😦 For breakfast I had a Fudge Shoppe Jumbo Peanut Butter Stick thing, and I would post pictures except now I am officially late for class.


So my class was boring, what else is new when a class is at 8 in the morning! In the middle of class I got really hungry and had a granola bar that was 140 calories. Then i went to my next class, and since we weren’t going to get our hw back, I left during the break. Then I came back to my room and made myself some lunch, steak and veggies (300 calories) and had a Ritz Crackerful (130 calories) to get me through until 3pm. ugh I hate long classes, and going to class. Do you prefer having a short class multiple times a week, or just one long lecture once a week?

Sorry I don’t have pictures, I devoured everything and remembering to take pictures is a lot harder than I thought.
